RECENT NEWS & INCIDENTS


AUTO ACCIDENT IN CENTRE TOWNSHIP

November 16 - Rescue 8 and Ambulance 89-1 were dispatched to Spring Road in the area of Wayne's Transmission for an auto accident.  Units arrived on the scene to find a 2 vehicle auto accident.  One patient was transported.

AUTO ACCIDENT IN CENTRE TOWNSHIP

November 16 - Rescue 8 and Ambulance 89-1 were dispatched to Rambo Hill Rd. passed Sandy Hollow Road for an auto accident.  Chief 8-2 arrived on scene in the area of the intersections of Sandy Hollow Church  and Huckleberry Rd to find a vehicle hit a pole and went down an embankment.  The driver fled the scene.

AUTO ACCIDENT IN CENTRE TOWNSHIP

November 15 - Rescue 8, Ambulance 89-1 were dispatched to the area of Perry County Mobile Homes for an auto accident.  Units arrived on scene to find a vehicle off the roadway.

AUTO ACCIDENT IN CENTRE TOWNSHIP

November 15 - Rescue 8, Ambulance 89-1 and P/M 81 were dispatched to 811 Shermans Valley Road, near the Catholic Church, for an auto accident.  Rescue 8 and A89-1 arrived on scene to find pole and wires down.  EMS placed P/M 81 available.  EMS later dispatched for ALS and transported to the hospital.  Penn Dot was called to close the roadway. 


AUTO ACCIDENT IN CENTRE TOWNSHIP

November 11 - Rescue 8 and Ambulance 89-1 were dispatched to Route 34 near Huckleberry Rd for an auto accident, vehicle into a pole.  Units arrived on scene to find a vehicle left the roadway and sheared off a pole for a guide wire.  Rescue 8 personnel controlled traffic while EMS transported one pt to the hospital. 

 

AUTO ACCIDENT IN BLOOMFIELD BORO

November 10 - Rescue 8, Ambulance 89-1 and P/M 81 were dispatched to the intersection of Chestnut and High Streets for an auto accident with entrapment.  Units arrived on scene to find the roadway partially blocked and negative entrapment.

COMPOST BUILDING FIRE IN CARROLL TOWNSHIP

November 9 - Company 8 was alerted for a shed fire at 300 Evergreen Rd.  Engine, Rescue and Tanker 8 responded.  Once responding, County advised units that they had a 25 x 80 foot shed on fire and there was about 10 feet of fire going up the outside of the shed.  Chief 8-2 arrived on scene to find a compost building of turkey manure and sawdust burning and the owner controlling the fire with a garden hose.  The engine crew advanced an 1 3/4 line to the rear of the structure, while the remainder of the crew and the rescue crew setup lighting.  The rescue crew gained access through the side of the building and began removing the compost, while the farmer began unloading the building back to where the fire was with a front end loader.  Once access was gained, the box was held to the engine.

FAMILY-STYLE TURKEY DINNER WITH ALL THE TRIMMINGS

November 8 - The Officers and Members of the company would like to thank everyone who supported our turkey dinner to benefit the new firehouse and the ladies auxiliary.

AUTO ACCIDENT IN CARROLL TOWNSHIP

November 8 - Rescue 8 and Ambulance 89-1 were alerted for a single vehicle accident with injuries.  Rescue and Utility 8 and Ambulance 89-1 arrived on scene to find 1 pt ejected from the vehicle.  EMS upgraded the box to ALS and aero medical.  Engine 8 responded to handle the landing zone at the scene.

CHIEF ROBB RECOGNIZED BY THE C.V.V.F.A

November 7 - Steve Flickenger, past president, and Steve Haines, 4th assistant president, of the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association, CVVFA, attended the monthly New Bloomfield Fire Company meeting to present Chief Robb with a resolution for the 32 years in the fire service and 6 years as being the Chief at New Bloomfield.  His leadership has expanded the number of active personnel in the company, as well as, contributed to the success of the fire company.


AUTO ACCIDENT IN CENTRE TOWNSHIP

November 2 - Rescue 8, Ambulance 89-1 and P/M 81 were alerted to Keystone Way, in the area of Perry Tool, for a vehicle overturned with a person in the vehicle.  Units arrived on scene to find patientt was self-extricated and fled the scene.

HALLOWEEN AT THE FIREHOUSE

October 31 - Following with the Halloween Tradition in New Bloomfield, members of the fire company setup the haunted house for the trick-or-treater's to walk through.  Thanks to those who helped and for those in the community who stopped by. 


NFPA FIREFIGHTER 1 CERTIFICATIONS

October 25 - Eight members completed the NFPA Firefighter 1 Practical Examination.  Members completing the test were:  Tony Bentley, Dana Franklin Jr, Jason Hoffman, Justin Kretzing, Eddie Orris, Mitch Robb, Mike Sheaffer and Keith Waltz.

 

FUNERAL SERVICES

October 23 - Members participated in the funeral for active member Troy Allen Hoover.  Troy was struck by a car while walking home from New Bloomfield, October 18.  Thank you to the crews from Duncannon Fire Co. and Duncannon EMS for standing by in Station 8.

SMOKE DETECTORS AVAILABLE

October 22 - The fire company took part in WHTMs "Operation Save A Life" program.  WHTM donated smoke detectors to local fire companies to be handed out to residents in need in the community.  If you are in need of a smoke detector, stop by the firehouse for one.  Thank you to WHTM for sponsoring this worthwhile program.


AUTO ACCIDENT IN CENTRE TOWNSHIP

October 18 - Rescue 8 was alerted for an auto accident at the intersection of Mannsville and Church Roads.  Rescue 8 arrived on scene to find a truck on its side.

FIRE PREVENTION PROGRAM

October 10 - The Fire Company presented a fire prevention program for the New Bloomfield Elementary School, New Bloomfield.  After the program, the children and fire truck tours were given.
