AID FOR A COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE FIRE IN CARROLL TOWNSHIP
August 15
- Tanker 8 was dispatched to 507 Sleepy Hollow Road to
assist
Shermansdale Fire Co.
for an auto body shop on fire. Command 12 arrived
on scene to find fire through the roof. The
structure was a 6 bay concrete building. Engine 8
was later dispatched to establish a fill site.
Liverpool Fire Co.
was dispatched to transfer an engine. Engine 5
transferred to station 8.

ATV RESPONSE TO
PENN TOWNSHIP
August 20
- Chief 11,
Perdix Fire Co,
contacted Chief 8 for assistance at a mountain fire
for ATVs. Three members from Station 8 went to
assist with ATVs.

MUTUAL AID FOR A
TRAILER FIRE IN CARROLL TOWNSHIP
September 2
- Tanker 8 was dispatched to assist
Shermansdale Fire Co.
for a trailer fire with a burn victim.
Approximately 45 minutes into the call, Engine 8 was
dispatched to the scene. While enroute,
Duncannon Fire Co.
was dispatched to transfer an engine to Station 8.
Engine 2 transferred and was later summoned to the
scene to assist with overhaul. Engine 5 from
Liverpool Fire Co.
was then requested to standby in Station 8.
Thanks to the transfer crews that day.
AED RESPONSE IN
CENTRE TOWNSHIP
September 2
- Utility 8 was dispatched to Clouser's Hollow Road
for an AED response to assist EMS. The Utility
crew arrived on scene and assisted BLS with patient
care.
AUTO ACCIDENT IN
CENTRE TOWNSHIP
September 2
- Rescue 8 and Ambulances 89-1 and 89-2 were
dispatched for a two vehicle accident at Wayne's
Transmission on Spring Road near Roth Road.

AED RESPONSE IN
CENTRE TOWNSHIP
September 4
- Utility 8 and Ambulance 89-1 were dispatched to
Shermansvalley Road for an AED response to assist
EMS. The utility crew arrived on scene and
assisted BLS with patient care.

September 22
- Utility 8 and Ambulance 89-1 were dispatched for
breathing problems. Shortly after the arrival of
EMS, patient went into cardiac arrest. The
crew from Utility 8 assisted EMS with CPR.
Congratulations to the Fire & EMS crews for a
successful save.
WATER
RESCUE EMERGENCY RESPONSE TRAINING
September 27
- Members from New Bloomfield and Ickesburg received
certification in water rescue. Training involved
classroom and an evening in the water at Little Buffalo
State Park and Saturday in the Susquehanna River.

ACCIDENT IN CENTRE TOWNSHIP
September 27
- At the conclusion of a Water Rescue Phase 1 training,
Rescue 8 and EMS were dispatched for an overturned
vehicle with entrapment at 292 Huckleberry Road.
Rescue 8, Utility 8, Utility 3 and Ambulance 89
responded. Chief 8-2 arrived on scene to find a
truck overturned with negative entrapment. Crews
from Rescue 8 and Utility 3 stabilized the vehicle while
the Utility 8 crew began PT care and assisted EMS crew
on their arrival.

STRUCTURE FIRE TYRONE TOWNSHIP
September 30
- Engine, Tanker and Rescue 8 were dispatched for mutual
aid for a residential structure fire on Mahoney Road.
Engine 8 established water supply from a pond at
Tuscarora Hardwoods and supplied 5-inch to Tanker 4,
which continued the relay to the scene. Engine 2
from Duncannon Fire Co. transferred to Station 8 and
later handled a landing zone for EMS.

LANDING
ZONE IN CENTRE TOWNSHIP
September 30
- Ambulance 89 was alerted for an electrocution at the
PPL substation on Keystone Way. Ambulance 89
requested Life Lion to the Borough Building in New
Bloomfield. Engine 2 responded from Station 8 to
establish the landing zone.

FIRE PREVENTION PROGRAM
October 10
- The Fire Company presented a fire prevention program
for the New Bloomfield Elementary School, New
Bloomfield. After the program, the children and
fire truck tours were given.

October 18
- Rescue 8 was alerted for an auto accident at the
intersection of Mannsville and Church Roads.
Rescue 8 arrived on scene to find a truck on its side.

SMOKE DETECTORS AVAILABLE
October 22
- The fire company took part in WHTMs "Operation
Save A Life" program. WHTM donated smoke
detectors to local fire companies to be handed out to
residents in need in the community. If you are in
need of a smoke detector, stop by the firehouse for one.
Thank you to WHTM for sponsoring this worthwhile
program.

SERVICES
October 23
- Members participated in the funeral for active member
Troy Allen Hoover. Troy was struck by a car while
walking home from New Bloomfield, October 18.

NFPA
FIREFIGHTER 1 CERTIFICATIONS
October 25
- Eight members completed the NFPA Firefighter 1
Practical Examination. Members completing the test
were: Tony Bentley, Dana Franklin Jr, Jason
Hoffman, Justin Kretzing, Eddie Orris, Mitch Robb, Mike
Sheaffer and Keith Waltz.
HALLOWEEN AT THE FIREHOUSE
October 31
- Following with the Halloween Tradition in New
Bloomfield, members of the fire company setup the
haunted house for the trick-or-treater's to walk
through. Thanks to those who helped and for
those in the community who stopped by.

November 2
- Rescue 8, Ambulance 89-1 and P/M 81 were alerted to
Keystone Way, in the area of Perry Tool, for a vehicle
overturned with a person in the vehicle. Units
arrived on scene to find patientt was self-extricated and fled
the scene.

CHIEF ROBB RECOGNIZED BY THE
C.V.V.F.A
November 7
- Steve Flickenger, past president, and Steve Haines,
4th assistant president, of the Cumberland Valley
Volunteer Firemen's Association, CVVFA, attended the
monthly New Bloomfield Fire Company meeting to present
Chief Robb with a resolution for the 32 years in the
fire service and 6 years as being the Chief at New
Bloomfield. His leadership has expanded the number
of active personnel in the company, as well as,
contributed to the success of the fire company.

ACCIDENT - CARROLL TOWNSHIP
November 8
- Rescue 8 and Ambulance 89-1 were alerted for a single
vehicle accident with injuries. Rescue and Utility
8 and Ambulance 89-1 arrived on scene to find 1 pt
ejected from the vehicle. EMS upgraded the box to
ALS and aero medical. Engine 8 responded to handle
the landing zone at the scene.

November 8 - The Officers
and Members of the company would like to thank everyone
who supported our turkey dinner to benefit the new
firehouse and the ladies auxiliary.

COMPOST BUILDING FIRE -
CARROLL TOWNSHIP
November 9 - Company 8 was
alerted for a shed fire at 300 Evergreen Rd.
Engine, Rescue and Tanker 8 responded. Once
responding, County advised units that they had a 25 x 80
foot shed on fire and there was about 10 feet of fire
going up the outside of the shed. Chief 8-2
arrived on scene to find a compost building of turkey
manure and sawdust burning and the owner controlling the
fire with a garden hose. The engine crew advanced
an 1 3/4 line to the rear of the structure, while the
remainder of the crew and the rescue crew setup
lighting. The rescue crew gained access through
the side of the building and began removing the compost, while
the farmer began unloading the building back to where
the fire was with a front end loader. Once access
was gained, the box was held to the engine.

AUTO ACCIDENT - BLOOMFIELD BORO
November 10 - Rescue 8,
Ambulance 89-1 and P/M 81 were dispatched to the
intersection of Chestnut and High Streets for an auto
accident with entrapment. Units arrived on scene
to find the roadway partially blocked and negative
entrapment.

AUTO ACCIDENT - CENTRE
TOWNSHIP
November 11 - Rescue 8 and
Ambulance 89-1 were dispatched to Route 34 near
Huckleberry Rd for an auto accident, vehicle into a
pole. Units arrived on scene to find a vehicle
left the roadway and sheared off a pole for a guide
wire. Rescue 8 personnel controlled traffic while
EMS transported one pt to the hospital.

November 15 - Rescue 8,
Ambulance 89-1 and P/M 81 were dispatched to 811
Shermans Valley Road, near the Catholic Church, for an
auto accident. Rescue 8 and A89-1 arrived on scene
to find pole and wires down. EMS placed P/M 81
available. EMS later dispatched for ALS and
transported to the hospital. Penn Dot was called
to close the roadway.

November 15 - Rescue 8,
Ambulance 89-1 were dispatched to the area of Perry
County Mobile Homes for an auto accident. Units
arrived on scene to find a vehicle off the roadway.

AUTO ACCIDENT - CENTRE
TOWNSHIP
November 16 - Rescue 8 and
Ambulance 89-1 were dispatched to Rambo Hill Rd. passed
Sandy Hollow Road for an auto accident. Chief 8-2 arrived on scene in
the area of the intersections of Sandy Hollow Church
and Huckleberry Rd to find a vehicle hit a pole and went
down an embankment. The driver fled the scene.

November 16 - Rescue 8 and
Ambulance 89-1 were dispatched to Spring Road in the
area of Wayne's Transmission for an auto accident. Units arrived on the
scene to find a 2 vehicle auto accident. One
patient was transported.

ASSIST FOR A COMMERCIAL
STRUCTURE FIRE - OLIVER
TOWNSHIP
November 17 - Engine,
Rescue and Tanker 8 were dispatched for a commercial
structure fire at the Applebox on Keystone Way. A
Juniata County chief was on scene with a working fire at
dispatch. The crew from Engine assisted Company 10
personnel in advancing lines to the rear and a line was
pulled on Engine 8 to advance through side D.
Rescue 8 provided lighting, assisted with ventilation
and setup an air station. Crews found fire in the
office and kitchen. There was smoke and heat
damage to the bar and dining area.

AUTO ACCIDENT - CENTRE
TOWNSHIP
November 22 - Rescue 8 and
Ambulance 89-2 were dispatched to the 1200 block of
Shermans Valley Rd. for an auto accident with wires and
poles down. Chief 8-4 arrived on scene and found 1
vehicle with one Embarq and one PPL poles hanging over
the roadway. Fire police and Penn Dot were
requested to shut the road down. The occupant(s)
left prior to the arrival of fire/ems.

SANTA MAKES A
VISIT IN NEW BLOOMFIELD
December 13 - Santa arrived
Saturday morning and before stopping at the firehouse,
took a tour of the borough on a firetruck. The
children in our first due territory enjoyed sitting on
Santa's lap and giving one last chance to let Santa know
what they wished for Christmas.

HOUSE - CENTRE TOWNSHIP
December 24 - Throughout
the day, the weather brought rain and freezing rain.
Units were dispatched for a tree on a house.

MEDICAL ASSIST - CENTRE
TOWNSHIP
December 25 - The afternoon
began with a medical assist response by Utility 8, to
assist EMS for an icy driveway. Personnel assisted
the individual to the bottom of the driveway to meet the
awaiting EMS crew.
MUTUAL AID FOR A
TRAILER FIRE - SPRING
TOWNSHIP
December 25 - Later in the
afternoon around 1600 hrs, Engine and Tanker 8 were
dispatched to assist Landisburg Fire Co. with a trailer
fire. Company 8 units had fire visible 3 miles
from town. Units were advised enroute of possible
entrapment. It was later confirmed that the
occupants were not home. Rescue 8 was manned on
station by personnel to handle any further possible
incidents.
AUTO ACCIDENT - CENTRE
TOWNSHIP
December 29 - Rescue 8 and
the second ambulance from Company 8 were dispatched for
an auto accident in the area of Keystone Way and Pine
Grove Rd. Rescue 8, Utility 8 and Ambulance 89
responded. Units were advised enroute the accident
was past Pine Grove Rd. and possibly negative injuries.
Rescue 8 arrived on scene to find 1 patient out of the
vehicle, which had overturned and came to rest on its
wheels. Ambulance 89 transported 1 patient to the
hospital. Crews contained fluids, cleaned up
debris and directed traffic.

MUTUAL AID STRUCTURE FIRE -
TYRONE TOWNSHIP
December 30 - Engine 8 was
dispatched for mutual aid to Landisburg Fire Company for
a residential structure fire at 479 Green Park Road.
Engine 4
arrived on scene to find heavy smoke. Shortly after
arrival, fire was self-venting from the second story
windows. Engine 8 setup a fill site at the old Dum
Farm on Kansas Rd.

CENTRE TOWNSHIP
December 31 - At
approximate 1010 hrs, Company 8 was
dispatched for trees on wires on Cold Storage Rd.
Utility 8 arrived to find a small fire and requested
Brush 8.

HUCKLEBERRY DROP PREPARATION
December 31 - Thank you to
the Newport Fire Co. for bringing Truck 10 to help us
prepare for the annual Huckleberry Drop.

RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE -
CENTRE TOWNSHIP
December 31 - At
approximately, 2245 hours, County
Communications dispatched a 1st alarm assignment for a
structure fire at 349 McKean Rd. Units on the
original dispatch were Companies 8, 10 and Tanker 7.
Engine, Tanker, Rescue 8 and Ambulance 89-1 responded
with 39 personnel. As Rescue 8 made the left off of High Street the glow
was visible from the sky. Command 8 called for an additional
tanker from
Shermansdale Fire Co. Tanker 8 laid 5 in
supply from the scene to a near-by pond. At the
height of the fire, personnel were pulled from the
structure and Truck 10 used an elevated master stream to
knock the fire. Engine 2 transferred from
Duncannon Fire Co. to Station 8.

The members of the New
Bloomfield Fire Co. would like to extend a BIG
"Thank You" to the crew on Engine 2. While on
stand-by for us, they assisted with our Huckleberry
Drop and then helped clean up equipment until
more personnel returned from the scene. Thanks
